AUN, Princeton, Twenty Other Universities Collaborate to Teach World History

Last week, the American University of Nigeria and Princeton University in the United States signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in scientific and cultural exchanges. The program is a collaboration of about 22 universities across the globe in a history program called "World History Lab."

Students who complete the course will receive credits from Princeton and AUN. The course commenced in September 2021.

All students worldwide have access to the lectures, quizzes, and textbooks (provided by Princeton). Students are enrolled in Princeton's Canvas system. The course is then customized to each university by the on-site instructor in terms of "in-person" contact hours, assignments (e.g., number of case studies produced), midterm and final exam, etc. and chosen theme in order to meet the local university standards, needs, interests, and regulations. The on-site instructor does all marking.

Participating in this collaboration provides AUN students and AUN with a number of advantages. First, it provides AUN students the opportunity to interact with students from across the world. Second, it provides AUN students the opportunity to benefit from Princeton's human and material resources.

Princeton provides all the books and course materials free of charge (they are currently on the way to Nigeria). At the end of two years, there will be an external evaluative review, and if the program is considered successful, it will be continued for a further two years.
