Class Speaker Salome Asibi Bitrus Inspires Graduates at 15th Commencement

In an incredible celebration of years of dedication and hard work, the American University of Nigeria (AUN) marked its 15th Commencement ceremony on the 18th of May 2024. The ceremony was held at Aliyu Mustapha Hall, creating a truly jubilant atmosphere.

Salome Asibi Bitrus, the class speaker for the class of 2024 and a graduate of Communications and Multimedia Design, beautifully described the transformative learning style at the American University of Nigeria. She emphasized that AUN stands out in its commitment to shaping the mindsets of its students, turning them from average thinkers into agents of positive change and development. Ms. Salome, a member of the AUN Honor Society, generously assists her peers with courses they find challenging.

Drawing from her own experiences and achievements, Salome delivered a heartfelt speech affirming how AUN nurtured her understanding that top grades are not just for geniuses and superhumans but for those who strive for excellence. She expressed, “AUN molds your mindset into something extraordinary, which isn’t limited to academics but makes you stand out wherever you go. AUN doesn’t just educate you; it instills the drive for excellence that becomes a part of who you are.” Her speech resonated deeply with the audience, eliciting nods of agreement and heartfelt applause.

The class speaker extended her gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the growth and success of the students during their time at AUN. She expressed her appreciation, saying, “Thank you to our incredible faculty, for not only teaching us but also making the learning experience ten times better. You are exceptional. To those who keep our campus clean, thank you. And to our parents, thank you for your unwavering love and support.” Ms. Salome also commended AUN President Dr. DeWanye Frazier for instilling in students the value of giving back to their community.

Dr. Emmanuel Thliza, the class speaker instructor, emphasized how nothing brings joy to Salome as much as reaching out to those in need. He added, “Indeed, excellence is about character, resilience, positivity, and the desire to rise above the ordinary.”
