CMD Seniors Record Milestones at Fall 2023 Semester Capstone Presentation

On Friday, December 1, 2023, final-year students of the AUN Communication & Multimedia Design (CMD) program hosted members of the University Community for their Capstone presentation.

The Capstone Presentation is the final piece of work that wraps up the entire academic program and represents a significant milestone in academic and professional development.

This year's senior career project presentation was held inside the Professor Idorenyin Akpan Multimedia (CMD) lab, on the first floor of the e-library.

Six final-year students presented projects relevant to their areas of concentration and interest. These projects drew themes from the community development learning experience of the students who designed them and offered insights and solutions to issues relevant to local communities. It is a scholarly undertaking by CMD seniors to make a positive impact on society. The students apply the knowledge and technical skills they have gained in class and can impact the local community which they present through various multimedia art forms furtherance of the Development mission of the American University of Nigeria.

Chekwube Michael presented a documentary on computer literacy for children. Vanessa Hart's presentation, captioned "The A's and the Buzzing Bees", was a podcast production that addresses mental issues in academic institutions.

Maryam Mustapha, Jude Rodney, and Zainab Abubakar collectively worked on and presented a project on "The Market Place", a look into the business of student entrepreneurs and the emerging culture of entrepreneurship on the AUN campus. To enrich their content, they toured the market areas to get feedback from sellers and buyers.

Salome Asibi Bulus presented on community service, which she titled "The heartbeat of AUN.

Salma Lawan presented on "Being a Fulani Prince" while Michelle Niyang Tangkat's project was on "Synergy", a variety show event.

Faculty and other invited students had the opportunity to review the projects through questions and recommendations.

Chair of the Communications & Multimedia Design (CMD) department, Professor Joseph Rishante, commended the students and described their works as very important.

The project work presented by the students is a part of their assessment exam and carries some marks.
