On May 15, 2023, co-founder and board member of Karatu Library Foundation, Ms. Martha Speirs, visited the Robert Pastor e-library, where she was received by the Interim University Librarian, Mr. Benson Ali.
A pioneer library staff member, Ms. Speirs was pleased to see how the AUN e-library has expanded in providing services to students, faculty, and the University Community.
Ms. Speirs, a co-founder of the Karatu Library Foundation, Yola, also spoke about efforts by the Foundation to boost literacy and reading culture in Yola and Adamawa State.
According to her, the Foundation is working hard to increase the facility's book stock and reading room and help set up school libraries.
The Karatu library, she said, has in stock books for kids and adults and hosts interesting books in business and medical health, which healthcare professionals will find helpful.
"We are now helping a local school develop their library and sending them boxes of books. They require more space, and we are looking around to help them in that regard too".
The Karatu Library Foundation is a non-governmental organization committed to supporting library and literacy services in Yola and the neighborhood while encouraging a reading culture and the growth of literacy in society.
