The Director of AUN Elementary School, Ms. Victoria Olosunde, welcomed the parents, guardians, guests, and spectators who were present to grace the maiden sports activities of the School. She appreciated their time out to encourage and cheer on the pupils while declaring the event open.
"I am so happy to welcome all our parents, and guardians who are here to witness this wonderful program; in the past, we have always had our sport days at the AUN Club premises, on this special event which features different sport activities, we are pleased to have it here. And I'm so grateful that you turned up," she stated.
Speaking with the Administrative Coordinator of AUN Schools Elementary and Early Learning Schools, Ms. Agogbua Oluchi, she said that the maiden sports event was organized to build and develop the early character of the pupils toward healthy competitiveness and to instill in the kids the spirit of sportsmanship, and to create an atmosphere that enhances socializing.
"The reason why we decided to do this sport thing, is, you know, sport is an essential means of building and developing the character of an individual, and that of the Community at large. It actually builds and nurtures the spirit of friendly competition amongst pupils, thereby providing entertainment. It helps the children to exercise their body, focuses the spirit, creates a climax of challenges and achievements. It also helps the pupils to figure out their skills, and endurance level," she said.
At the end of the event, the overall winner and the runners-up were announced, with the Blue House (Diamond) winning the first position; followed by Red House (Giant), while the third position went to Green House (Eagles). The winners received trophies with many pumps.
