Founding Board Chairman Joda with Associate Visits

On February 24, the founding Board Chair at AUN Ahmed Joda was on campus with one of his associates, Muzali Dantata. A veteran technocrat, Alhaji Joda is a family friend to the Dantatas.

Muzali Dantata is a cousin of Tajudeen Dantata, an Emeritus member of the AUN Board of Trustees. He was in Yola for a visit and AUN was one of the sites that he had the interest to see considering the institution is a major landmark of Nigeria's northeast.

The guests were received by the Vice President for University Relations, Dr. Abba A. Tahir.

Cognizant of the fact that every university is noted for something, Dantata was curious to know AUN's unique selling proposition (USP).

Responding, Dr. Tahir said that the university is noted for its deployment of technology to create solutions to social challenges. "We are also known for training job creators rather than job seekers...we are known for community engagement and service-learning which is considered as a catalyst for sustainable development in the region."

Dantata could not hide his excitement about the AUN campus and facilities and the physical beauty of its landscape which, he went on, easily reminds him of the American University in Washington, where he had his graduate studies, and which was a founding partner of AUN.

The guests were taken on a tour of the University campus by Aliyu Abubakar, a senior Public Affairs Assistant in the University Relations Division. The cafeteria, library, and the eco-friendly administration building were among the locations they toured.
