The Window on America at the American University of Nigeria (AUN), in collaboration with Leading Wing, an emerging community-based movement focused on youth empowerment, commemorated the Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day on January 18, 2025. The event took place in Window on America at AUN's E-Learning Center.
Mr. Ikechukwu Vincent Ogoegbulen, the Founder of Leading Wing and a Nigerian Air Force Officer, shared insights about the organization's mission. He explained that Leading Wing is a social enterprise that addresses pressing societal needs through innovative technologies, offering youth training, workshops, seminars, forums, and public discussions. With his military background and AUN's strong relationship with the armed forces, Mr. Ogoegbulen sees AUN as the best place to host the observance of Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
"AUN, renowned for its community-oriented initiatives and its cooperative ties with security agencies, is the ideal venue for this dialogue," remarked Mr. Ikechukwu.
The event featured discussions highlighting the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces, who often pay the ultimate price to secure the nation's borders and protect its citizens. Attendees enjoyed a screening of the Nollywood film "Eagle Wings," which portrays the challenges faced by the military in combating insurgency in Northern Nigeria.
