It's a depressing economic atmosphere in the country currently. However, at his inauguration as the sixth substantive President/Vice Chancellor of the American University of Nigeria on Saturday, November 25, 2023, Dr. DeWayne Frazier exuded hope and positivity like it is the bloom of spring.
"I am filled with excitement and optimism for the future of this university. I am confident that, together, we will achieve great things and continue to be a beacon of knowledge, enlightenment, and progress. I am committed to upholding the values and principles that have been the foundation of this university' the President announced to the audience, which included the Founder, HE Atiku Abubakar, members of his family, the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, who represented the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Fintiri, Trustees of the AUN Board and members of the Governing Council, political and business associates of the Founder, and members of the AUN Community.
President DeWayne Frazier promised to prioritize innovation, push the boundaries of knowledge, and create opportunities for groundbreaking research and world-class teaching.
"As your President, I will strive to build strong collaborations with our alumni, community partners, and industry leaders, forging meaningful connections that will benefit not only our students but also society as a whole. We will work together to address the challenges of our time and make a positive impact in our local and global communities".
The President also pledged commitment to uphold the values and principles that have been the foundation of this university. "Values such as Excellence, Integrity, and Services that permeate through the entire campus. I will follow and uphold our bylaws like never before, as I accept them with great honor. When you do things the right way, God will bless you, this is a promise".
