On Saturday, November 30, 2024, the American University of Nigeria (AUN) celebrated its 16th Annual Founders' Day, a testament to vision, leadership, and dedication to education. As part of activities to mark this significant milestone, Dr. DeWayne Frazier, President of AUN, proudly unveiled the commemorative book "Impact Stories." This publication serves as a tribute to AUN's 20-year journey of excellence and its unwavering commitment to transforming education in Nigeria and beyond.
Reflecting on the significance of the publication, President Frazier remarked, "It was an honor to commission the AUN Impact Stories publication, as it provided an outstanding opportunity to present the story of the university in one succinct format. This history project allowed us to provide a 20-year snapshot of one of the most unique universities on the African continent. Being able to present this to the Founder, our Chairman, and His Excellency Peter Obi was a special moment, as it represented the culmination of a year-long journey to capture the stories that helped define the American University of Nigeria."
The "Impact Stories" book chronicles the university's remarkable history, documenting news reports from its establishment to the present day. This compilation highlights the achievements, milestones, and transformative impact AUN has made in education and the broader community.
Mr. Daniel Okereke, AUN Registrar/Vice President for Administration and Chief Editor of the "Impact Stories" book, said "This volume explains how, as a Development University, AUN fills a dire resource gap. AUN upholds the traditional role of a university as a creator and transmitter of knowledge, where learning is connected with providing solutions to the problems of local communities."
Mr. Okereke expressed his gratitude to President Frazier for inspiring the collection, highlighting the president's vision and leadership in bringing the "Impact Stories" project to fruition.
In a symbolic gesture, President Frazier presented a copy of "Impact Stories" to His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, the visionary founder of the American University of Nigeria. His leadership and commitment have been instrumental in shaping the university's legacy. Senator Ben Obi, Chair of the AUN Board of Trustees, was also honored with a copy of the book. His wise counsel and guidance have played a pivotal role in strengthening the university's foundation and advancing its mission.
As a token of appreciation for his inspiring keynote address, President Frazier also presented a copy of "Impact Stories" to His Excellency Peter Obi. His dedication to education and leadership resonates deeply with the values and ideals that AUN upholds. This memorable presentation symbolized AUN's ongoing dedication to leadership, education, and development, paying tribute to those whose contributions have shaped the university's remarkable journey.
