On February 29, 2020, internationally acclaimed scholar Sheik bin Uthman spoke to the Muslim faithful against the trappings of immoral behavior and the values of culture and religion in one's life.
"As a youth wading through the deep, twisted waters of university life, you must be proud of your heritage and show it," he said.
Offering students prayers and advice, Bin Uthman stressed the importance of learning languages and using them to spread goodness and cause change around the world. "Linguistics and genealogy," as he put it, are necessary for the quest for causing change. He explained that while language can sometimes become a barrier in building relationships, learning a new language will build a bridge to create that relationship.
During the question-and-answer segment, students interacted with the Sheik by writing their questions anonymously and having them readout with the aid of final-year Information Systems major Muhammad Chubado, who acted as Moderator.
"I truly learned a lot in this seminar, said third-year Environmental Science major, Muhammad Auwal, who is also the chair of the organizing committee.
