Professor Yakubu Bila

Yakubu Bila joined AUN in FALL 2020 as a visiting professor from the University of Maiduguri where he is a Professor of Agricultural Economics. He obtained a Master’s degree (M.Sc.) and a Doctoral degree (D. Phil.) in Agricultural Economics from Oxford University, having previously obtained B.Sc. Agriculture with First Class Honors from the University of Maiduguri. He joined the University of Maiduguri as Graduate Assistant and rose to the rank of Professor of Agricultural Economics. He taught and supervised students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Yakubu on the editorial boards of some professional journals.  His research interest is in the areas of general equilibrium analysis, Food and Agricultural Development Policies, Macroeconomic Policies, and Rural Development. He is One of the principal consultants that developed an Innovative Business Model, which is an organized system of economic activities to enhance the performance of the commodity Value Chain, for IFAD. He has published in national and international peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the TETFund standing committee on research and development (RDSC).

Professor Bila’s academic and administrative appointments include Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Head of Department of Agricultural Economics and   Extension as well as the Department’s Coordinator of Post-Graduate Programmes and Coordinator Remedial Science Programme of the University of Maiduguri and Head of Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension Adamawa State University Mubi. He was PROVOST   College of Agriculture Jalingo. Presently serving as Member of Governing Council of Peacock College of Education Jalingo and has also served as Member of Governing Council of Husaini  Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Kazaure.  He has been a Consultant/resource person to some national and international organizations: FADAMA III, IFAD, MASDAR (U.K) LTD, Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)- PROSAB, National Planning Commission- African Institute of Applied Economics, etc.
