Ibrahim Inuwa (PhD) is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems in the School of Information Technology and Computing (SITC) at American University of Nigeria (AUN), where he obtained his award winning PhD with a dissertation entitled “Mechanisms Fostering the Misuse of Information Systems for Corrupt Practices in the Nigerian Public Sector” in 2022 (supervised by Dr. Chidi Ononiwu). Prior to his PhD, he obtained M. Tech. in Information Management Technology with distinction from the Faculty of Management and Information Technology, MAUTECH, Yola – Nigeria in 2016., He also holds an associate degree in Information Management Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics with Economics in 2004 and 2010 respectively, from the Federal University of Technology, Yola -Nigeria. Prior to joining AUN as a Faculty member in 2022, He spent several years working as an adjunct lecturer and research/teaching assistant at MAUTECH and AUN, respectively.
He is a reviewer for a number of journals, including Information Systems Journal (ISJ), Information Technology & People (IT&P), Journal of Engineering, Design and Technology (JED&T), the Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries (EJISDC) and the African Journal of Information Systems (AJIS). He is also a reviewer and member of the program committee for some major IS conferences such as International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), Pacific Asia Conference on Informatics (PACIS), and the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Working Group 9.4. Over the years, his works have been published in these conferences and journals.
He is a recipient of a number of awards, which include:
Doctoral Award: Outstanding doctoral student award recognize excellence in doctoral research and scholarship at AUN in May, 2022.
The “Paper-a-Thon Award winner” - International Conference on Information Systems held in Munich, Germany December 15-18, 2019.
Adamawa State Government Honors Award: For executing NYSC Community Development Service Projects in collaboration with the prestigious American University of Nigeria: 2011.
At the moment, he is the Chair/HOD of the Software Engineering Department (SE) at AUN. He is responsible for instructing students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in a variety of subjects, including IS Security (auditing, policies, standards & guidelines), IT project Management, IT Business Analytics, and Technical Report Writing (Senior Research Project in IS) among others. In addition, he organizes the AUN programming contest, and oversees master's and undergraduate research projects.
