The American University of Nigeria (AUN) in partnership with Jamie Pajoel International (JPI) held a youth leadership program on Saturday, October 14, 2024, at the AUN Library Auditorium. The event focused on teaching young people essential leadership skills and fostering personal growth.
Ms. Nnenna Mosugu, Vice President of Finance at AUN urged attendees to actively engage in tasks and responsibilities to enhance efficiency. She encouraged the youths to remain determined and ambitious, despite the economic challenges and rising commodity prices in Nigeria. "Step outside your comfort zones, comfort is an enemy "
Highlight of the program was a spoken word performance by Ms. Lilian Philippine, a third-year Public Health major and assistant director of JPI's Adamawa State chapter. Her poem, titled "This Society," poignantly illustrated the struggles youth face in pursuing their dreams. Philippine emphasized the importance of self-empowerment, urging her peers to resist societal pressures and boldly stand up against injustice.
The Youth Leadership Empowerment Program was successful in providing valuable opportunities for Youth to develop their leadership skills and prepare for the future. The collaboration between The American University of Nigeria and Jamie Pajoel International demonstrated the power of partnerships in creating educational experiences for the society
