The Security and Safety Department of the American University of Nigeria (AUN), on October 3, 2023, officially welcomed the 6th President of the institution, Dr. DeWayne Frazier, with a splendid parade display.
Senior management and academic leaders witnessed the parade, which took place in front of the Peter Okocha Building.
According to the Assistant Chief Security Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Augustine, the parade was organized in honor of President DeWayne to show solidarity, support, and appreciation of the President's love for the department. He assured the President of the department's readiness to step up their act in securing the lives and property of the entire campus community and all AUN facilities in and around the Yola and Jimeta metropolis.

President DeWayne described the personnel and the parade as outstanding. The President, who was all praises for the officers, said the Western media and even some Nigerian media, in their reportage of the Northeast region's security situations, most times blow the narratives out of proportion, having witnessed it for himself. He asserted that AUN is very safe due to the thorough, diligent, hard work and professionalism of the officers and staff of the department.
President Frazier stated that safety depends on the security personnel's hard work and professionalism. "I'm proud of you, and thank you for your work, and God bless you."
Assistant Vice-President of Human Resources and Planning, Mrs. Fa'izatu Ahmed Abubakar, welcomed the President into the AUN community. She assured him of staff and faculty support while he strives to achieve his goals at AUN.
