The American University of Nigeria (AUN) has been deliberately conscious of equality, equity, and fairness as core institutional values. On September 2, 2024, at the Lamido Aliyu Musdafa Commencement Hall, the university officially welcomed newly admitted students of the classes of 2028 and 2029 and administered the oath of allegiance, demonstrating these characteristics.

At the fall convocation ceremony, interim AUN Registrar Mr. Daniel Okereke officially welcomed and introduced the freshmen and graduate students to the President, Dr. DeWayne Frazier, for acceptance. During his presentation of the newly enrolled students, the interim Registrar declared, "For the first time in the history of this university, we have a class that has achieved a significant milestone—gender parity, with an equal number of male and female students."

He strongly emphasized that AUN has gained national and international recognition as the safest campus for female students, providing an ideal environment for nurturing and honing young women's academic and leadership abilities. "It is notable that at AUN female students consistently excel, often recognized as top performers, valedictorians, and exceptionally gifted individuals. It is not a coincidence. AUN actively promotes policies that engender role modeling and zero tolerance for academic and ethical corruption. Female students surpass expectations under these circumstances", he said

Mr. Okereke emphasized that diversity is a defining characteristic of the incoming class. "The Fall 2024 admitted students are a diverse group, including international students, transfer students from other Nigerian universities, and students from overseas. They also come from all regions of Nigeria and other African countries." Attracting and educating the best and brightest students from diverse backgrounds is what makes AUN unique, he added.

The interim registrar expressed gratitude to all parents for trusting their wards in AUN for character and academic development. Furthermore, he extended his appreciation to all stakeholders whose efforts contributed to the successful admission of new students, giving special recognition to the university's top management, deans of schools, faculty members, staff, and the admissions team.
