At the Fall 2024 Convocation and Pledge ceremony for new students, the interim AUN Provost Dr. James Adewale, delivered a thought-provoking speech which emphasized the pivotal role of time in shaping the students' academic journey.
Dr. Adewale, an associate professor pf mathematics with a robust pedigree in teaching and research acknowledged the service, sacrifice, and dedication of the parents who have entrusted AUN with their children's education.
"Without your service, sacrifice, dedication, and commitment to education, we would not be here today", he said, extending a warm welcome to the parents present. He emphasized the limited nature of time, referring to it as a "free and equal gift from God" that is irreplaceable. "The gap between the starting point and finishing line is time," he added, reminding the students to make the most of every moment as they embark on their academic journey.
He encouraged the students to embrace their lectures, engage fully in their studies, and actively participate in campus life, all while balancing their time between learning and personal growth. "Your time here is not just about earning a degree; it is about discovering who you are and what you can become", Dr. Adewale said, underscoring the transformative potential of their time at AUN.
The professor concluded by advising the students, "Let the value of time inspire you to make every moment count. We believe in your potential, and we are here to support you every step of the way".
