On February 29th, 2024, a friendly football match was held at the American University of Nigeria (AUN) main campus between the AUN Staff Football Team and the Finance Department. The match showcased a remarkable display of defensive resilience and strategic play resulting in a goalless draw.
Throughout the game, both teams demonstrated an incredible level of commitment and determination. Mr. Charles Nche, the AUN Staff Team Coach, expressed confidence in his team's dedication. “I am confident in the preparation and dedication our team has shown in practice. It's not about winning or losing but about giving it out all,” he said.
Mr. Samson Mshelia, the Finance Department Coach, praised his team's exceptional strength and determination while also expressing pride in their efforts. “I am proud of their effort and commitment on the field,’’ he added.
In the early stages of the game, the AUN Staff Team controlled possession, probing the defense of the Finance Department with quick passing and solid movement. However, the defenders of the Finance Department, Mr. Richard Orga, Uchechukwu Ike, and Abba Rukejei, held firm, preventing every attacking endeavor with well-timed interceptions and disciplined positioning.
